1906-1985. Stroudley was a painter, printmaker and teacher who studied at Clapham School of Art and the Royal College of Art, London. He then travelled to Italy where he was influences by artists such as Giotto and Piero della Francesca. His skill led him to be asked to assist in painting murals for the Bank of England, and he was a visiting lecturer at the Royal Academy schools. His later work moved more towards abstraction, and he had a number of solo exhibitions. His work is held in public collections throughout England.
This particular work relates to his painting 'Allegory' of c. 1933.
