1891-1950. Born in the Ukraine, his family moved to Liverpool shortly after his birth. He attended Liverpool School of Art and won the King's Medal in 1911. He went on to study briefly at the Royal College of Art, London and Academie Julian, Paris before attending the Slade School of Art after he won a scholarship. He taught drawing and painting at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, London for a number of years. He was appointed as a tutor of life drawing at the Westminster School of Art, where he was well known as being a fine figurative draughtsman. His work is held in numerous public collections.
