Dame Laura Knight (1877-1970) DBE RA RWS was an English figurative artist who worked in oils, watercolours, etching, engravings and drypoints. Her career was long and successful and she became a highly popular painter in Britain. She was the first woman to receive full membership of the Royal Academy. She was mainly known for her works inspired by the circus, theatre and ballet and during WWII, she was a war artist.
