‘Òran na Mara: A treatise on Whale and Mermaid Song’, written by Dr Nixon Cherry, has inspired some of these intriguing and supremely skilfully crafted constructions that have just arrived in the gallery.
Anderson studied Drawing & Painting at Glasgow School of Art and graduated in 1984 with a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art from which Anderson was then selected to participate in the renowned Compass Gallery’s New Generation Show, who represented him at Art Fairs in Bath and London. Throughout his career he has been a regular exhibitor in specially selected mixed exhibitions in Gerber Fine Art. He has won numerous awards including the John D Kelly Award in 1981; the D W T Cargill Award, in 1987; the Arthur Young Exhibitionship Prize, 1987 and a solo exhibition in 1988, both at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts; the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award in 1989; and the Arts in Fife Purchase Award, Fife House Collection also in 1989.
