Douthwaite, 1934-2002, was a Scottish artist. She studied mime and dance with Meg Morris where she was introduced to JD Fergusson. It was he who encouraged her to paint. Largely self-taught, she lived with fellow Scottish artists Colquhoun & MacBryde as well as William Crozier. From the late 1950's to 1980's, she travelled extensively, visiting Peru, North Africa, India, USA and Europe.
